Luma | Kids Brain Games

Cookie Policy

Effective date and last updated: October 17, 2026

1. Website cookies and your choice

This policy covers the marketing website at lumakids.org and local storage used by the game app at app.lumakids.org and Luma mobile applications. Cookies are small files stored by a browser. Other local storage, including IndexedDB, can remember information on a device without using cookies.

The marketing website uses optional Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, traffic sources, pages viewed, and interactions. Google Analytics is not loaded and no measurement requests are sent to it before acceptance or after rejection. Analytics is not used for advertising, health inferences, or linking visits to children's game progress. Accepting cookies permits optional website analytics. Rejecting them disables it and clears existing analytics cookies. Neither choice affects access to Luma.

2. What is stored

  • _ga and _ga_0MYCZD8BHQ: optional Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish browser visits and maintain session information. They are set only after acceptance, with a 60-day expiry refreshed by subsequent use. New cookies are host-only, so they are not shared with the game-app subdomain.
  • Website analytics preference: local storage remembers acceptance or rejection under luma-website-analytics-consent-v3 until it is changed or browser storage is cleared. Older preference entries may remain in browser storage, but are not used to authorize analytics in this version. This preference contains no visitor identifier and is used to respect your choice, not to measure visits.
  • Game storage: IndexedDB holds local progress, language, difficulty, Sun Points, garden state, colouring mode, and duplicate-reward receipts until the app's data is cleared. This supports the game's requested features; it is not an advertising or cross-service tracking identifier.
  • Limited game-use counters: a bounded local queue holds pending usage events until delivery or queue pruning. Local first-play and daily markers avoid duplicate counts. These markers are not uploaded as stable identifiers. Server-side daily totals and temporary duplicate-prevention hashes are explained in the Privacy Policy. Website cookie choices do not control these separate app counters.

The game app does not itself load Google Analytics or set analytics cookies. Older website versions set cookies for the parent domain; those cookies may still accompany requests to its subdomains until removed or expired. The updated website removes those older domain cookies. Clearing browser site data also removes them.

3. Changing your choice

Use Analytics settings in the marketing website's footer to accept or reject optional website analytics at any time. Withdrawing consent stops future optional analytics collection and clears analytics cookies; the website may reload to unload an already running analytics script. It does not automatically delete information already lawfully processed. You can also manage cookies and site storage through your browser. Clearing the game app's storage may permanently remove saved progress.

The website analytics choice is intended for adults deciding about their own visit. It is not verifiable parental consent to collect a child's personal information.

4. Further information and contact

Our Privacy Policy explains information collected through network requests, Google Fonts, website analytics, multiplayer, and app-use counters, including purposes, retention, providers, transfers, and privacy rights. Cookie expiry is separate from Google's retention of collected data. For Google's practices, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Questions may be sent to lumakidsapp@gmail.com.
